More with the Embossing Folders

Good afternoon, peeps!

There's only one more sleep before wor Sheena is back on C & C TV so I hope you're all looking forward to learning some new techniques!  Here is one I made for the show and that defo looks better IRL than it does in the photograph - for one thing, you can't see the bling from the Luminarte Silks on the Mandalas in the photograph.  Anyhoo, here it is:

There are actually three embossing folders used in this card, the Indian Lattice, Mandala and Ornamental.  The latter one is embossed into one of the backing papers printed from Sheena's CD ROM then blinged up with some Silver Sparkle EP.  I did sneak in one stamp - the sentiment from the Tiger stamp plate.

My fellow Inkoids have also been making some wonderful cards for the shows so go here to find links to all their blogs.

The shows are on at 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. tomorrow, Monday 12 May so do press the record button if you can't be around to watch them live.

Thanks for looking today.

They're coming back!

Good afternoon, peeps!

I hope you're enjoying your weekend so far and that the rest of it is looking promising.  I just thought I'd pop by and show you one of the cards I've made using just wor Sheena's Taste of India Embossing Folders (no stamps were used in the creation of this card!!).

There are two in evidence on this card - Henna Mango (5" x 7") and Indian Lattice (A4).  I also brought the Distress Inks, Luminarte Silks and Pebeo Gilding Wax out to play!

So, if you thought you'd missed the Taste of India Collection and were regretting it, you have a second chance to buy some goodies on Monday 12 May on Create and Craft TV at 9.00 a.m. and 3 p.m.  There'll be some great techniques demo'd by Sheena as well.

I'll see you there!

A Tiger Reflection Tutorial (at Sheena's request!)

Good afternoon, peeps!  Are you saying 'what's this?  Two posts in one day....will wonders never cease?'

If you watched wor Sheena's show at 4.00 p.m. today, you'll have heard her ask me to write a tutorial for the tiger reflection card - this one:

...that I blogged a few days ago.  I thought I'd more or less said how it was made but, when I checked back, the description was fairly incomplete, so here goes:

I produced the tiger reflection by using a 6" brayer to pick up the image from the stamp and then roll it off again on to some Neenah Card.   Once I'd rolled the reflection off the brayer, I  cut the A4 card to size (19 cm square) because it was easier to make sure that the reflection was in exactly the right position doing things in this order.  It's also possible to produce a reflection by stamping the image on to acetate and then, whilst the ink is still wet, burnishing the acetate on the reverse to transfer the image.  The result is not quite so clear but the, it is a reflection!

I coloured both images with Spectrum Noir Pens but made the reflected image paler to enhance the realism.   I tore the edge of the card underneath the main tiger so that it would look like an area of earth next to the pond.

The jungle background is made with various shades of green and cinnamon coloured Twinkling H2Os (just use what you have) splodged on to the matte side of Centura Pearl and dried.  Then I stamped the leaf images from the same tiger plate with the same paints I'd used for the base layer but this time using only the greens.  The last stage for this section was to emboss the card with the Jungle Leaves A4 embossing folder.  It's a good idea when you're creating this piece of card to make it larger that needed, then you have some embossed green card from which you can cut out some of the embossed leaves to use as embellishments.

I embossed a piece of acetate that I'd first painted with a slightly watery solution of Bolivian Blue Luminarte Silk using the Water Ripples embossing folder when the paint was dry.  Another option would be to leave the acetate flat if you don't have a suitable embossing folder.

Finally, I edged the acetate with the Pebeo Silver Gilding Wax and glued on some leafy die cuts in various shades of green.  The ones I used are available here but anything that could be a variety of water weed would do the job.  Mount the resulting piece on to a dark green piece of 19.5 cm square card and then mount this on to a 20cm square base card.

I do hope this is all clear and that you'll have a crack at making the card for yourself.

An elephant walks on flower petals....

Good morning, peeps!

Have you been watching then?   There have been some wonderful shows on Create and Craft TV with wor Sheena demonstrating the fabulous Taste of India Collection and there's still more to come this afternoon at 4.00 p.m. and three shows tomorrow.

This morning, I spotted this card on the display so I though I'd just give you more of a peek at the detail.

I really love this Floral Confetti embossing folder and all of Sheena's embossing folders are so deeply etched and provide such a deep emboss that it's easy to cut out the elements, as I have here, to use as embellishments.  The green leaves are from the Jungle Leaves embossing folder and I've use the Marching Elephants as the overall background.

BTW, the coloured panel isn't mounted crookedly IRL, it's the way I've held the camera then cropped the picture!

Thanks for looking at my elephant with bling!

It's getting closer ....

Good morning, peeps!

Yes, wor Sheena will be on the telly tomorrow morning at 8.00 a.m. and the whole of the Taste of India Collection will be revealed in all of its fabulousness!  Only one more sleep to go but, in the meantime, here are some more of the stamp designs on this card:

This time the mango shape that was on yesterday's card with the elephant has grown a bit and it's coupled with the Indian Arches image that was stamped on to the base card with Luminarte Silks Ice.  It's a really useful white paint that acts as a resist to the Distress Inks that are splodged over the card on top of the Silks.  It's all finished off with heat embossed Mangoes and flowers painted with H2Os and that's it .....simples!

On the morrow, peeps - see you then!  Thanks again for looking.

They never forget.....

....well, that's what they say about elephants, don't they?

Good morning, peeps!  I thought I'd show you one today - elephant, that is and it's another one of the lovely stamps from wor Sheena's Taste of India Collection launching with a 4 Day Deal on Monday on C & C TV.

For this card, my inspiration was the look of sari silk and the coloured powder that's thrown at Holi, the ancient Hindu religious festival that's also known as the Festival of Colours and which takes place in the Spring.

The elephant and the small paisley shaped designs (known as 'mango' in India) are coloured here with Spectrum Noir pens.  As for the background, that consists of Sanskrit text (downloaded from t'Interweb) covered with modelling paste and Pebeo Studio Acrylic Paint plus, of course the fabulous gilding wax - always hard to leave out!  The main background part of the card is made by stamping the Mandala design with Versamark and heat embossing with brass EP then panting over with Luminarte Silk Paint to give a wonderful sheen that doesn't show in this photograph.

Anyhoo, you may just see the lovely lady herself demonstrating this technique on one of her shows.  Just as a reminder, this is when she's on:

Monday 14 April 8.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.
Tuesday 15 April 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Wednesday 16 April 8.00 a.m., 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.

Thanks for looking today and I'll see you again tomorrow.

Blue like the Sky.....

......yes, like the sky is in sunny Yorkshire today!

Good morning, peeps!  More of wor Sheena's Taste of India collection but today's card is very different from yesterday's - no big, stripey pussy cats prowling around on this one, it's all flowery!

This one started off with one of the background papers designed by we Inkoids (not this particular Inkoid, I might add!).  I then added the wonderful Henna Corner stamp and painted the design with some Luminarte Silks (I'm still in love with these things!).  I've decoupaged the flower at the centre of the design and coloured the pearly centres with one of my Spectrum Noir pens - I think it was CT3.  The sentiment is from that tiger plate shown on yesterday's card.

I'm getting quite excited to see the shows on Create and Craft TV now, starting at 8.00 a.m. on Monday (yes, I know I should get out more).  At the moment it looks like the programme schedule is:

Monday 14 April 8.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.
Tuesday 15 April 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Wednesday 16 April 8.00 a.m., 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.

There are also some repeats in the middle of the night if  you've missed a show and you want to set the record button.  Watch the programme schedules though, you know how things can change with C & C TV!

I'll be back again tomorrow and thank you for looking today.

Watch out .....there's a tiger about!

Good morning, peeps and what a lovely, sunny morning it is - well, in Yorkshire anyway!

I'm sorry I've been MIA for so long but I've had a really nasty dose of bronchitis that has dragged on, and on..... anyhoo, moan over, I'm back with a tiger - no, not in my tank (for those of you with long memories!) but on my card.  I've been beavering away with wor Sheena's wonderful new Indian Collection of stamps about to be shown on Create and Craft TV next week as their new 4 Day Deal.

Here's the big pussy cat taking his ease by the watering hole:

Sheena's drawing s always superb but I particularly love this tiger - what a handsome chap he is!  I produced his reflection by using a brayer to pick up the image from the stamp and then roll it off again on to some Neenah Card.  I coloured both images with Spectrum Noir Pens.

The jungle background is made with H2Os splodged on to the matte side of Centura Pearl then I stamped the leaf images from the same tiger plate with the same paints and finally embossed the card with one of the A4 embossing folders that you'll also see on Sheena's shows - there's a whole big bunch of them, all with wonderful designs in the Indian theme.

A rather new addition to the range this time is a CD with printable background papers all designed by the Inkoids and they're fabulous!  (Well, I would say that wouldn't I but they are - really!)

The shows start on Monday 14 April at 8.00 a.m. and Sheena's back again at 1.00 p.m.  Be prepared for lots of wonderful, technique-y demos!

I'll be back tomorrow with another sneaky peek.

Oh, and I mustn't forget to tell you that I heard only this week that I've passed the course and I'm now an Accredited Crafter's Companion UK Demonstrator - am I thrilled or what!

Edit:  I decided to enter this card in the Spectrum Noir Challenge for April.

It's the village show!

Good evening, peeps!

Well, it's the same stamp as yesterday but I thought I'd show you just how different it can look:

The flags to create the bunting are on one of the stamp plates - I love bunting because it always speaks to me of some kind of celebration.  I kept the flags fairly muted for this card so that they didn't overwhelm the main image.  The sentiment is from the collection as is the rosemary (one of my fave herbs!)

I do hope you'll be watching Sheena's shows tomorrow at 9.00 a.m. 1.00 and 6.00 p.m. on Create and Craft TV - they have a Multibuy of all 6 plates at an amazing price and it will be so hard to resist when you see the incredible samples all my teamies have made - go here to see all of the blog addresses.

It's no mystery - it's a wedding!

Good evening, peeps!  I'm a bit late posting this because I've been teaching a class today but I finally made it!

What we have here is one of wor Sheena's Village Mystery stamps used to make a wedding card and it's no mystery that this new collection of A6 stamp plates is extremely versatile!  In this one though I can almost hear The Carpenters singing along with 'White Lace and Promises'!

See what I mean?  This card is coloured with Copics and the image is mounted on Collall Glue Gel for a 3D effect.  The sentiment is from the same plate although there is one complete plate in the collection that is full of really original sentiments.

Sheena's shows are on Thursday 27th February at 9.00 a.m. 1.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. so I'll see you there!

It's nearly here ....

....the launch of wor Sheena's new embossing folders, that is.  Yes, peeps only one more sleep to go until you can see them in all their glory, together with all the lovely samples that my teamies and I have been making lately.  Here's another one from me that will hopefully tempt you into indulging in a little retail therapy:

This one is made with the Trailing Ivy A4 folder and some of Sheena's stamps from past collections, the Ivy Paint Fusion stamp. the Always Floral plate and the Only Words Through the Rain set.  I added in lots of Luminarte goodies (of course) some Pebeo Gilding Wax and there you have it!

Since the shows are only tomorrow, I'll give you an extra little sneaky peek because I'm good like that!:

This is the Ancient Arches embossing folder, one of the 5" x 7" ones and I've used it here with the Falling Feathers stamps clear embossed on to Kraft Card.

Well, I can't wait for the first show tomorrow at 8.00 a.m. and then Sheena's on again at 1.00 and 5.00 p.m.  The other show times are:
TUES 28th…..9am,4pm and 7pm
WED 29th…..10am and 2pm
THURS 30th…..12noon and 5pm
Thanks for looking again today.

The excitement builds ......

Yes, peeps - the excitement is building towards the launch of wor Sheena's wonderful new embossing folders with a 4 Day Deal on Create and Craft TV starting on Monday at 8.00 a.m.

Here's today's sneak peek at one of the A4 folders - sorry, I can't remember what it's called but it's the one with all the flowers on!!  Anyhoo, you won't just want to buy one of them, will you?

Isn't this the blingtastic one, eh?!  The effect is obtained by using alcohol pens on acetate then spreading them with blending solution on a piece of foam packaging.  You then spread Versamark or Perfect Medium on the debossed side of the embossing folder and place the non-inked side of the acetate against it and whizz it through the machine.  Follow this up with some gold glitter embossing powder (I used a WOW! one) and mount the piece over some white Centura Pearl card, coated side up and 'Presto' you have it!  However, if you watch the shows, you may well see the lovely lady herself demo this technique.

Please pay me a visit tomorrow to see another sample and thank you for looking today.

Let the Sneaky Peeks begin ....

Good afternoon, peeps!  Well it does seem a long time since I blogged - did you miss me?

Anyhoo, I'm back to tell you that wor Sheena has been busy again designing new embossing folders.  There are 8, 5" x 7" ones and 4, A4 ones in the collection and they're fabulous.  They will be launched as a Four Day Deal on Create and Craft TV, starting on Monday 27 January at 8.00 a.m. and there are a total of 4 shows on Monday.

Here's the first of the samples I've made:

This is made with one of the 5" x 7" folders to create the main picture and one of the A4 folders to create the ivy leaf background.

I'll be back to show you more tomorrow.

Another fishy tale

Good afternoon, peeps!

Well, there's only one more sleep to go before we can all watch wor Sheena on Create and Craft TV.  Yes, peeps, tomorrow at 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. you'll be able to watch some wonderful demos using these new Under the Sea collection stamps.

Here's another couple of samples that are hopefully travelling along with Sheena as I type heading for the TV studios in readiness for the shows:

These must be two differing species of angel fish or at least painted with differing Luminarte Silks!  The coral and seaweed were stamped with the same paints - I prefer to place a little paint on my craft mat and pick it up on a small piece of Cut 'n' Dry foam to apply to the stamp.  I find I get a more even coverage that way but the paint can be applied with a flat brush, it just depends which you prefer.  This time the bubbles are dewdrops glued down with a little Glossy Accents.  You'll notice that some shells have made another appearance too - I think I must be a creature of habit but......

........here's something completely different......

There are no shells on this one just shoals of little fish embossed in gold pearl - sadly, it just tends to look yellow from some angles!

See you tomorrow, peeps!

Under the Sea

Good morning, peeps!

If you always wondered what goes on under the sea, I'm about to give you a little peek!

Wor Sheena has been busy drawing again and you should just see the exciting stamps she's come up with this time!  Gorgeous detailed fishy images with silhouette images to match so there's no end  to the interesting techniques you can come up with using this little lot.  Just watch wor Sheena for some action packed demos on Create and Craft TV on Friday 13 December at 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.  There's a repeat of one of the shows at 11.00 p.m. if you're busy working on Friday.

Anyhoo, here's a peek of the first card for today:

You probably recognise the shells from the last stamp release but they go so well with this new one that I couldn't resist!  You can also probably see the lustre of the Luminarte Silks on the fish and the shells - they are 'proper lush' (to quote a well known TV chef!) and I can't leave them alone at the moment!

Similar techniques but different fish on this one - you'll see that the background card has some of the silhouette images embossed with white pearl embossing powder on it.  These images are great for that as well as using as the foundation image and then over-stamping with the matching line art image.

Wait until you see what my teamies have come up with using these stamps.  Go here for links to all their blog pages.

Will you be watching?

Good morning, peeps!

Wor Sheena is on Create and Craft TV again this morning in less that an hour's time (10.00 a.m.) with another showing of her fabulous Coastline themed stamps (and of course the wonderful Luminarte Silks).  These paints are truly amazing and I have to 'fess up and admit that some more sets found their way into my basket yesterday......I really must work out how that happens.....?

Anyhoo, here's another of the samples I made for these shows, just to whet your appetite:

On this card I included the large dragonfly from the Flying Colours plate and I used the Water Ripples Embossing Folder to create the background.  Of course, I just had to use the Silver Gilding Wax for added bling!

and here's another sample to showcase the other stamp plate:

I hope you enjoy the show and I'll see you on the sofa!  Thank you for looking.
