A good day to show you this one

Good afternoon, peeps!

No, I'm not referring to Election results in my title but to the fact that it's VE Day and poppies seem appropriate for the occasion.  The chap whose photograph is on my card is my Grandfather and whilst the picture dates back to the First World War and not the second it's still a homage to all our fighting forces.  Anyhoo, without more ado, here is the first poppy card that I made as a sample for wor Sheena's forthcoming Weekender Event on Create and Craft TV, where she'll be launching her new Perfect Partner Victorian Florals:

The background of the card is created with Sheena's Poppies and Daisies stamp and the Simply Scriptly stamp.

My other poppy card is very different (and not just the colour!):

I hope you liked my cards today and thank you for looking.  Don't forget to tune in for the shows tomorrow (9.00 a,m, 12.00 and 6.00 p.m.) and Sunday (11.00 a.m., 2.00 and 7.00 p.m.) or set the recorder if you're busy.  My fellow Inkoids have made some amazing samples!

Pansies are for Loving Thoughts

Good afternoon, peeps!  I'm a bit later than planned with today's flowers from the wonderful new Victorian Florals Collection by wor Sheena.  This collection is being launched in the Weekender Event on Create and Craft TV this Saturday and Sunday.  At the moment the show times are:

Saturday - 0.00 a.m., 12.00 and 6.00 p.m.
Sunday - 11.00 a.m., 2.00 and 7.00 p.m.

Today I've chosen the Pansies, a flower that I love so I looked up the meaning of the flower and it represents 'loving thoughts'......aaah!  There's probably not enough of those around......anyhoo, on with the artwork:

For this card, my pansies are the purple and yellow variety and I thought I'd create a background for them using the Daisy Chain Border embossing folder, which I painted with Spectrum Noir Aquatints then faux bleached the colour out of the daisies and just painted the centres yellow.  The pansies on both of these cards are also painted with the Aquatints.

This card has the same flowers but a very different look and colour scheme:

The background for this one was created with Distress Inks and then 'splatted' with water and blotted to remove the colour.  I also used Forest Moss Distress Ink to sponge through the Shady Meadow Stencil.

Well, I hope you've enjoyed today's loving thoughts from me and I'll see you again tomorrow - only two more sleeps before the shows start!

Thank you for looking today.

Victorian Florals

Good morning, peeps!

Well hasn't it been a long time since I was here?  I'm sorry about that but I'm back with some fabulous new designs from wor Sheena, who has been busy producing these wonderful Victorian Florals in the form of lovely new rubbah and dies to match.  These are going to be the main feature in a Weekender event this coming Saturday and Sunday on Create and Craft TV (Channel 674 on Sky but also on Virgin, Freeview and Freesat).

Here is my first offering using the Sweet William flowers:

This is just a small papier mache box primed with Pebeo Gesso and then painted with Luminarte Silks.  There is just the one flower head on this, which reflects it's size and the flowers are coloured with Spectrum Noir Pencils.

Here's how it looks from the front:

I added the lace to give it that real Victorian look and you can just see the little satin bow peeking out from behind the sentiment, which is also a part of the stamp set.

Create and Craft are being a bit vague at the moment about the times of the shows but I believe the first one is at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday and there are several shows over the two days ..... that's if the stock lasts, of course!

Thanks for looking today - I'd love it if you'd leave a comment and let me know what you think of my little trinket box and I'll see you tomorrow with some different flowers.

Sheena's One Day Wonder

Good morning, peeps!  I'm sorry that I didn't manage to make this post yesterday (slaps own wrist!) but sometimes a day can just disappear.  I'm sure you know the problem.

Anyhoo, today I have a couple more cards for you made using folders from wor Sheena's new collection of embossing folders and stamps - here we go with the first one:

You may well be thinking that this is rather different from the usual cards from Sheena's DT (we do tend to love the painty, messy side of crafting) but I wanted to show how versatile these embossing folders can be.  The flowers and leaves were produced using the last set of stamps and dies that were launched.

This card shows the same embossing folder but used rather differently:

The cat, sitting on her pedestal, is one of the new stamps and I love her, the design is so expressive of cats!

The Create and Craft TV schedule is still showing Sheena's show times as 8.00 a.m., 11.00 a.m., 1.00 p.m., 4.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. so it's going to be a very busy day for her - nothing new there then!

Thank you for looking today.

An apple a day

Good afternoon, peeps.

I hope you've all enjoyed the Spring weather we've had although it seems to have taken a diversion for the moment!  My cards today speak more of Harvest time than Spring but I wanted to show them to you because wor Sheena has been busy designing some brand new embossing folders, one of these is shown on this card.  There are some new stamps as well but more of that later.

The Distress inks are featured here as well as a little of the Pebeo Gilding Wax (brilliant stuff!).  You can also just about see on this picture that I've used Glossy Accents on the apples for a realistic touch.

Here's another one using the same embossing folder but looking very different:

This time I've used the embossing folder on Centura Pearl card and the horse image is one of the new stamps as is the sentiment.  I think you'll love them all!

Sheena's shows are scheduled for Thursday 12 March at 8.00 a.m., 11.00 a.m., 2.00 p.m., 4.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. so I hope you'll be watching and I'll see you again tomorrow with more sneaky peeks.

Thank you for looking today.

A touch of Summer

Good morning, peeps!

I'm just popping in briefly to tell you that wor Sheena is on Create and Craft TV next Monday 19 January to show you some more techniques and ways with her wonderful new stamps and dies.  Her shows are at 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. - not to be missed!

In the meantime, here are a couple more of the cards I made as samples of what you can do with this collection - I hope you like!

Thank you for looking today.

Did you watch it then?

Good afternoon, peeps!  I'm talking of course about wor Sheena's show on Create and Craft TV that started at 3.00 p.m. this afternoon.  If you did miss it, it's usually possible to catch up on the C & C website.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd just pop in and show you the card that I've created with the Brambles stamps and dies, the Scarecrow and the Fields of Gold stamp.

It's hard to see in this photo but the berries in the foreground are glazed with Glossy Accents, which I also used to create some 'dew drops' on some of the leaves.  Sheena suggested triple embossing them with clear powder which is another way of doing it, so great minds think alike, eh?  Well, nearly anyway....if  my mind worked like wor Sheena's I would be a happy bunny!! :-)

These stamps and dies are so fabulous to work with and I'll be making another card with this set and a little help from one of its friends but I'll show you that another day.

Thanks for looking today, peeps!

Sneaky peeks, day 2

Good afternoon, peeps!

I thought you might like another little peek at some of the new stamps and dies that wor Sheena has been busy creating.  Apart from seeing what I've done with them, you can see the good lady herself on Create and Craft TV beamed straight to a TV set near you live from CHA in California at 3.00 p.m. on Monday 12 January - I forgot to tell you that yesterday - doh!!

Anyhoo, here is today's little offering:

The dies I've used on this one are The Old Tree, Country Fence and the smaller of the two corners from the Hedgerow Corner set - all really versatile sets to have!  The background and background stamping was done with Spectrum Noir Aquatints.

Thank you for looking today and I'll see you all again soon!

New launch not to be missed

Good afternoon, peeps!

Well the weather is dreary and stormy outside but inside my craft room it's summer!  Wor Sheena is over the pond all set to launch a series of new stamps and coordinating dies at CHA - yes I did say dies as well!  They are fabulous and it's an absolute delight working with them.  Here's the first of my sneaky peeks:

I love these Wild Roses and the die set includes the leaves and the stamens - I've enhanced mine a little with some Ranger Liquid Pearls, The curvy frame is another die in the series and will be eternally useful for all sorts of card designs.

Here are some more Wild Roses in a different setting:

The whole series is full of wonderful images all connected with nature and I'll be back tomorrow to show you some more!

Thank you for looking today.

More mixed media

Good morning, peeps!

Well are you all ready with a cuppa to sit down and watch wor Sheena?  I'm so looking forward to the shows!  If you are watching, look out for these samples:

This is painted on a stretched canvas and I think I just about chucked everything at this before I finally painted it with the Pebeo Acrylics (on the shows today if you're quick - they often sell out!).  There are plasterboard tape, butter muslin (or cheese cloth as some call it), crumpled tissue paper, modelling paste, die cuts, grunge board shapes (Tim Holtz) and silk flowers....oops! nearly forgot the beads!  When the paint was dry I dry brushed over the highlights with gesso and finally added some Pebeo Gilding Wax to other highlights.

This box could be for a man because it's not fussy at all but is painted with the special effects paints that are in the mixed media kit launching today on Create and Craft TV.  The shape stretched diagonally across the lid is one of the new stamps that you'll see today.

And finally:

A door hanger for the lady herself.  The wood is primed with gesso and then painted randomly with Spectrum Noir Aquatints.  The stamps used for the tree and leaves are new for this weekend's shows and the leaves are painted with H2Os.

Enjoy the shows and thank you for looking.

Tree Canvas

Good morning, peeps!

Did you miss me yesterday?  I'm sorry there was no post but I don't know what happened to the day, it just sort of ran away with me.  I'm sure we all have days like that.

Anyhoo, here is today's offering:

This is a canvas board on which I painted some random hilly shapes using white acrylic mixed with various shades of H2Os.  The basic tree trunk is one of wor Sheena's new stamps that are being launched on the Weekender event starting tomorrow at 9.00 a.m.  I filled the trunk shape with Modelling Paste to create the bark texture that isn't showing all that well in the piccy.  When that was dry, I painted the surface with H2Os.  The leaves, blossoms and sky were all produced with some of the special effects paints that are in the mixed media kit that's also being launched on the weekend shows.  The stamps that produced the flowers and leaves are also on the shows but the butterfly is cut from a Crafter's Companion die.

I do hope you'll all be watching over the weekend because I know there'll be some wonderful demos and some exciting products as well.  The show times again are:

Saturday 1 November at 9.00 a.m., 12.00, 6.00 and 8.00 p.m.
Sunday 2 November at 11.00 a.m, 2.00 and 7.00 p.m.

Thank you for looking today.

.... and now for something completely different...

Good morning, peeps!

I'm back again to tell you about wor Sheena's latest adventures in the land of paint!  She has a Weekender event on Create and Craft TV this coming Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd November and will be launching a yummy paint kit and some brand new stamps.  Here is one of the samples I made with them:

The black area in the middle is actually a mirror but I put the black card in there so you wouldn't see the reflection of my lights and the camera lens!...not a very artistic sight!!  Anyhoo, this mirror (from a certain well known Swedish Department store at a cost of about £1.50) has been covered with Modelling Paste into which were pressed some cut out pieces of black card impressed with some of the new stamps that were heat embossed with brass EP .  When this was all dry, the result was painted with Pebeo Vitrail paint (glass paint), which is part of the kit, and hey presto, you have a mirror that looks far more than the £1.50 that it originally cost - a nice Christmas present for someone, methinks!

Do look in at the weekend if you possibly can, I'm sure that the lovely Sheena will be showing us lots of lovely techniques with these new painty wonders.  At the moment the show times are:

Saturday 1 November at 9.00 a.m., 12.00, 6.00 and 8.00 p.m.
Sunday 2 November at 11.00 a.m, 2.00 and 7.00 p.m.

Watch out for changes to the schedule though as they do sometimes happen.

I'll see you tomorrow but thank you for looking today.

Two today!

Good afternoon, peeps!

Well, wor Sheena's shows are getting very close now with the first one being tomorrow at 9.00 a.m.  so I thought I'd show you two cards today and they show two differing ways of using the elk stamp (at least I think it's an elk!).  This one shows the magnificent beast painted with the Aquatints then cut out and mounted on Collall 3D Glue Gel, as are the ferns also (from the Optimism plate).  The background is created with the Aquatints using the salt technique on Watercolour card.

On this card the elk is just a silhouette because I've painted over the image with Black Gesso.

He's standing on rocks made with torn black card and I've used the Silver Aquatint from the Essentials set to create highlights on the elk and the rocks from the effect of the Northern Lights.  The other image is from the Sheltering Tree plate.

Thank you for looking today.

Sneaky Peek at a Stencil

Good afternoon, peeps!

This post is a slight departure from the norm in that there are no rubber stamps involved, which is definitely surprising for me!

These deer relaxing in a glade at sunset (or is it sunrise?) were produced from one of eight stencils that will also be launched on wor Sheena's Weekender show starting on Saturday on Create and Craft TV.  The colourful background is of course the wonderful Aquatints that I've been waxing lyrical about (well I might just like them a teensy bit!) and the shadows were stencilled through with black pigment ink.

The show times again are:

Saturday 4 October at 9.00 a.m., 12.00 noon, 6.00 & 8.00 p.m.
Sunday 5 October at 7.00, 11.00 a.m. 2.00 & 7.00 p.m.

and I'll be watching/recording all of them - hope to see you there!
